The first or second Saturday of every month, SAWP offers a wide variety of free workshops for teachers. These programs held typically from 9 AM – 12 PM on these Saturdays at UTSA-Downtown. Attendees receive three hours of Professional Development Credit certified by the UTSA Academy for Teacher Excellence. See our website for details of each event.

Learn about a powerful family literacy project you can bring into your classroom or entire school that fits as a narrative essay, but is so much more.

Enjoy the sights and sounds of Spring on our annual Writing Marathon.

April 2nd The Cuentos Project Open Mic Event
Join us as student writers from many cultures share their family stories. Location TBA.

May 6th–Inquiry for Empowerment: Using Historical Non-Fiction to Promote Literacy and Identity
Join us to hear about and learn from this literacy project working with high school and middle school young women.

October 11th- Collaborative Event – UTSA Literacy Education Colloquium: Literacy in a Multimodal World

November 1st- Back to Basics – Techniques for Sentence Building
Learn creative ways to get your students writing detailed sentences.

December 6th- Digital Story Telling
Students create digital projects from Cuentos to class presentations. (Space is limited.)

February 7th- 9th Annual Teachers’ Conference

March- Collaborative Event: UTSA Storytelling Conference
